Think Blue

No we are not having a baby boy;-) We went to a Dodger Game or should I say a Dodger Smack Down...Dodgers beat the Padres 10-1. The score in the first inning was 6-0. The Dodgers went thru their whole line up in the first inning. Check out the Score board at the end of the first inning!

We had awesome seats in the Field Boxes down the third base line. The Bowens joined us for our Think Blue night. The Dodgers are honoring all time greats this week. Last night it was

Oral Hershiser the great Pitcher.

We almost caught a foul ball, Manny Ramierz was throwing out his warm up balls to our section. We did the wave, hit beach ball and yelled charge all night. It was a great family outing.

2 Games 4 Goals

This week Hannah pulled her groin muscle at soccer practice. She has been in a lot of pain this week. I was worried how she would do this week or if she could even play. Guess I shouldn't have worried so much. She scored her first goal in Club Soccer today and then 3 goals at her AYSO game. She did hobble around some on the field, but she made it with those goals.

Way to go Hannah!

Santa Clarita United won 4-0. We beat the team that was undefeated and has had zero goals scored on them this year. Last year they only let 3 goals the whole season. Go Big Blue!

Hannah took this ball all the way from their half, past all the defenders and into the Goal! 3 goals later and I am broke. Hmmm...maybe she should be hurt more often. Yellow Fever tied 3-3, it's better than a loss!

Learning the Game

The Coaches of the Day. Leonard coaches the Rockin' Blue Berries. Clarissa and Allison coach the Blue By You's! Great job today!

The Rockin' Blue Berries are learning the game of soccer. I can't believe how much they have learned in a few short games. They have learned to pass the ball to each other. The goalies get down and get the ball. The defenders know not to let the ball pass. It's great to see them with their competition faces on too. So Cute. Another great day of Soccer!

Aliza saved this Goal today as she was playing Goalie!

Aliza going down the field for one of her 3 goals.(oh wait, I forgot we don't keep score in U-8-)

A Write-In Candidate...

I recv'd this email from Heather about a new write-in candidate this year....Bill Cosby

I have loved his words of Wisdom since I was a little kid...anyone remember his mama's boomerang shoe or the 9 foot belt with hooks on it. Classic Comedy!

I HAVE DECIDED TO BECOME A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE.
HERE IS MY PLATFORM:

(1) "Press 1 for English" is immediately banned. English is the official language; speak it or wait at the border until you can.

(2) We will immediately go into a two year isolationist posture to straighten out the country's attitude. NO imports, no exports. We will use the "Wal-Mart" policy, 'If we don't got it, you don't need it.'

(3) All National Guard personnel will be required to man one of our many observation towers on the southern border. (six month tour) They will be under strict orders not to fire on SOUTHBOUND aliens.

(4) Social security will immediately return to its original state. If you didn't put nothing in, you don't get anything out.

(5) Welfare - Checks will be handed out on Fridays at the end of the 40 hour school week and the successful completion of urinalysis and a passing grade.

(6) One export will be allowed; Wheat, The world needs to eat. A bushel of wheat will be the exact price of a barrel of oil.

(7) All foreign aid using American taxpayer money will immediately cease, and the saved money will pay off the national debt and ultimately lower taxes. When disasters occur around the world, we'll ask the American people if they want to donate to a disaster fund, and each citizen can make the decision whether it's a worthy cause.

(8) The Pledge of Allegiance will be said every day at school and every day in Congress.

(9) The National Anthem will be played at all appropriate ceremonies, sporting events, outings, etc.

Sorry if I stepped on any one's toes but a vote for me will get you better than what you have, and better than what you're gonna get. Thanks for listening, and remember to write in my name on the ballot in November.

God Bless America!!!

I realize that all these things attributed to Bill Cosby might not be said by him...but I thought it was funny political satire.

Is it NOVEMBER yet?

Lessons in Photography

Last weekend I was able to participate in a photography class taught by Autumn Hull. I am excited to learn more about a hobby I love. Heather, April, Clarissa, Jamie, Shannon and I had a wonderful experience. Now I just have to practice! Autumn is a great teacher, she really spoke to us on a level we could understand.
I love this picture, it just shows how engaged we were that day.

Here's Jamie as we were practicing taking action shots.

We were learning inside lighting, of course my subject is adorable with her camera in hand.

I look forward to being able to learn more from Autumn.

Sunday Sampler 9/14/08

Today was a very spiritually uplifting day. Leonard, Jordon and I started off our day with a fast in order to prepare for Jordon's Patriarchal Blessing tonight. I loved the youth talks today about being Happy in your family. They both had funny one-liners and a good message. We also had an Elder leaving for a mission this week. It's always great to hear their excitement to share the gospel.

Sunday School was interesting to say the least. Our teacher made a statement that if you have or desire worldly things like a new car or a Boat you were not living a righteous life. Why do so many seem to take this extreme path of misinterpretation. It's about the desires of your heart and having righteous priorities. Thank you Patti for turning the lesson back towards the right path. I love Patti for her knowledge of the gospel and her open honest way of conversing with people.

In R. S. Sister Grant taught about receiving revelations from The teachings of Joseph Smith. It was a great lesson to have in light of what I was fasting for today. I love that Brigham Young said that the words we hear from the mouths of our Prophets are more important and take precedence over the written word. It's a comfort to know we have a living Prophet who leads and guides our church TODAY!

Patriarch Halverson is an AMAZING man. He has such a powerful, calm spirit. It was an honor to be able to be in his presence as he gave Jordon his Patriarchal Blessing. After the blessing he sat with us for over a half an hour going over the words of the blessing. The powerful spirit of revelation, knowledge and the absolute peace that exudes from that man is phenomenal.

United Shuts Out Barcelona

Hannah's club team, United, shutout one of their biggest rivals today. 3-0 was the final score. Hannah played 3 quarters today. It's such a different experience than AYSO. The field is twice as big and the players are way more aggressive. If the ball weren't round I would think they were playing football. Our United team went undefeated in regular season last year. However, this team beat us in tournament play. Our team wanted Vindication, and we got it! Go United!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy 65th Birthday Dad!! It will be great to go to Fleming's when you come next month. My Dad like to play pool and poker. He likes to fish and ride on his ATV's. He's the one who introduced me to James Taylor and the Eagles. He coached my Softball team and would catch for me while I practiced pitching. He used to let us ride in the back of his old Ranchero....until he bought his RX7. Thanks for everything Dad...We Love You....Happy Birthday!

Sunday Sampler 9/7/08

Today Hannah was introduced as the newest Young Woman. She shared Article of Faith 4. "We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost." She did a great job stating it. She also finished her Faith in God many months ago...onto Personal Progress. I was so touched by J. Hinton's testimony...so much depth for a 7 year old. I appreciated all the Testimonies of Christ today.

Sister Johnson's lesson in R. S. was awesome. It was thought provoking to talk of how we sometimes let the little everyday distractions skew our eternal perspectives. So subtle sometimes how we get off track...such is satan's tool I suppose.

Leonard and Jordon went Home Teaching today, and it struck me what Bro. Huffaker said about how he will miss his son as his companion as he leaves for his mission this week. I am sure the time will go rather quickly and Leonard will have to be looking for a new companion too.

12....Finally!

Today is Hannah's 12th birthday. She has waited along time for this...finally she is in Young Women's now. All of her friends at church turned 12 almost a year ago. She has looked from afar at all the fun things the girls have done this year. But, today she finally gets to join them. In our church when they turn 12 they join the Youth Group. So for our kids 12 is a bigger number than 13!

Hannah has blossomed into a Beautiful young women. She has grown up so much these last few years. She's kind and considerate, helpful and hard working, patient and loving, funny and sweet.

She's a fantastic baby-sitter, a great big sister to Aliza. Helpful to her mother. She's tough on the soccer field, yet gentle and sweet with kids. She worked hard to get on the Honor Roll last year. I love how she always asks me if there is anything she can do for me. She never whines when I ask for help and loves to spend time with her family. She is a awesome organizer...she keeps the art cupboard and dvd drawer straight, changes the calendar and is my own personal day-planner. I am so proud of the young women she is becoming.

Happy 12th Birthday Hannah!

Soccer Season Begins

Soccer Season is upon us again. I love to watch my girls play. Hannah is playing AYSO and on the United club team. She will have Soccer five days a week. Good thing she loves it. Leonard is coaching Aliza's U8 team...The Rockin' Blue Berries. They don't keep an official score...but you know we do! Aliza won her game and Hannah won both of hers. Yay teams!

Coach Leonard giving a last minute pep talk to his Rockin' Blue Berries

Aliza played goalie today, she made a save by diving for the ball.

Hannah is a great Goalie, she knows when to come up on the ball and when to stay back and protect the Goal.

Hannah plays a great Forward Position too. She knows when to pass the ball to make that key play. She had two assists for goals today.

It looks like we won't get to see Aralie play this year.(and that's a whole story altogether) We will miss the excitement she brings to a game. She has a wicked kick with that right foot!
